From the deserts of Rajasthan this 20th century pendant is a symbol of protection. It depicts Lord Bhairava a reincarnation of Lord Shiva standing in front of his dog Shvan. Fierce in his nature he has four arms, holding a drum, snake, trident and a skull mace. The unique shape is a symbol of a yoni leaf of a sacred fig tree that is widely worshiped by the Bhil tribe, in India. Adorned with typical floral motifs it has a double bail, and through its much loved past it has a heavily oxidized finish giving it a rustic look.
